How to Keep Your Kitchen Clean

The kitchen is one of those places that needs frequent cleaning and sanitizing due to the nature of its functionality. We handle and prepare food as well as wash dirty dishes in the kitchen. We pay it a visit whenever we desire a meal, snack, or a drink. Many times, guests end up gravitating toward the kitchen to engage in conversation. We even go to the kitchen out of boredom. It is definitely a popular spot in many households therefore, we must ensure the cleanliness is up to par. If your kitchen is not cleaned properly, it can result in sickness, malnutrition and/or stress.

What actions can you practice to enjoy a clean kitchen?

  1. For starters, you can create a daily and weekly checklist. A checklist allows you to maximize the value of your time, stay organized, clean on a schedule, and reduce stress over cleaning the kitchen.

  2. Wash your own dishes right after you use them. This will decrease the likelihood of dishes piling up. Do not hesitate to use the dishwasher if you are overwhelmed. Ensure that you clean the dishwasher after you use it. This will avoid buildup of food and grease.

  3. Treat your refrigerator, microwave, and stove to a weekly deep clean.

  4. Organize your refrigerator by designating different spaces for certain items.

  5. Keep cleaning supplies under your sink so that they are readily available.

  6. Wipe your counters with disinfectant at the end of the day.

  7. Sweep your kitchen daily. Mop regularly. If you do not have time to mop everyday, practice spot mopping.

  8. Ensure you clean your sink everyday.

  9. It is recommended to change your dish sponge every 2 weeks.

  10. A great rule of thumb to follow is to simply spot clean visible grease, crumbs, food leftovers etc. This method works if you are on a time crunch.

Keeping your kitchen clean will benefit you and your family in every way. Follow the steps above and your kitchen will continuously remain spotless!
